I Built a Cycling App

Something different from the usual architecture talk. 241 stories about road cycling, in three languages, in beta on iPhone.

TL;DRSpinning Through Time is a road cycling history app I built on my own: 241 stories, a page per race and a morning briefing in race week. English, Dutch and French. Closed beta on iPhone, waitlist open.

Something different from the usual architecture talk: I built an app.

Spinning Through Time tells the history of road cycling. Koers, as we say in Flanders. 241 stories about riders, races and eras: Merckx in the snow on the Tre Cime, the women who raced anyway, a solo from the Kwaremont. Every race has its own page with all its winners. In race week you get a short briefing each morning before the start.

It's in English, Dutch and French. Right now it's in a closed beta on iPhone. The App Store and Google Play come next.

I made it on my own, start to finish: the app in Expo, the API in .NET 10 with Postgres, the website and the hosting.

Nothing fancy to explain this time. Just something I'm quite proud of.

Into cycling? The beta waitlist is open before Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on 27 February 2027.
